Creative Direction for Porsche.

Commercial script and treatment for Porsche’s new Taycan — an electric sports car whose name translates to “the soul of a spirited young horse.” The advertisement ignites inspiration in drivers by connecting them to the essence of horsepower and the romantic aesthetics shared by sport horses and sports cars — a connection which draws its roots back to the very origins of “the horseless carriage.”

The script features narration over footage of a polo player arriving at the stable, donning their gear, grooming and tacking their horse, while the verbal overset track expresses why they invest their time, money, and energy in this uncommon choice. Aside from medium shots of the rider entering the barn, and in the polo arena sitting astride the horse at the end, the video is comprised of extreme close-up shots showing the quality craftsmanship and aesthetics of the rider’s equipment, horse-tack, and the rider’s points of contact with the young polo horse, which is visually and symbolically a robust image of health, power, wealth and athleticism. The commercial closes with a powerful sentiment, “horsepower is sacred” and the campaign line connects this thought across rider and driver — “Live for the Ride.”

Partnerships with the California Polo Club & Rusnak Porsche in Pasadena have already been established. Potential partnership with Performance Polo Saddles is in the works, and a tentative shoot date is set in late November or early December 2022. Potential to air the commercial on ESPN Polo for next year’s globally live-televised 2023 Polo Open is also in discussion, where it would be recorded and included in the archived stream.
